Taunton Bay Clean up!
September 7 – September 13
Hello Mainers! For the 3rd consecutive year, Friends of Taunton Bay is proud to participate in the Maine Coastal Cleanup Program, which is part of the International Coastal Clean Up organized by the Ocean Conservancy. In 2025, we collected 150lbs of plastic, metal and other trash harmful to our estuary. This year, we want to clean the entire shoreline!
Here, on our beloved Taunton Bay, FOTB is looking for your help! We are hoping to have a concentrated effort to clean up the shoreline of the Bay, which includes picking up and properly disposing of all trash and miscellaneous debris which has accumulated over the past year.
As much of the shoreline is privately owned, we are asking that you participate by cleaning up your personal shoreline and reporting the amount of trash that you have collected. If you are unable to personally walk your shoreline, we will provide volunteers to help. A separate group of volunteers will walk along the public coastline of the Bay to gather trash and ensure it is properly disposed of.
My name is Jean Roberts and I will be organizing the effort, collecting the numbers and submitting the information to the Maine Coastal Cleanup program for future planning. We want to ensure that many generations to come can enjoy the seals, birds, otters, fish, mink and other “critters” that need to be protected from plastics and trash that finds its way onto our shorelines.
From September 7th to September 12tht, we will jointly work to assure that trash is collected and properly disposed of. Will you help?
Please contact Jean Roberts at (207)391-3433 or at 14thebarn@gmail.com to volunteer or for additional information, or visit us on Facebook.
